Who said nail art had to mean intricate designs and patterns? The coordinated colours on these nails make for eye-catching and whimsical nail art. Perfect for summer! Use any colours you have and remember, they don’t have be from the same part of the colour spectrum.

Glitter isn’t just for Christmas. Apply either sweet pastel shades like in the image above or a bright shade like yellow or orange and then have some fun with glitter. Paint it either all over the nail, at just the tip or base, in a circle in the middle, across half the nail horizontally or vertically or on just a few nails. Test different colours of glitter too; it doesn’t just have to be gold or silver - specks of a dark shade of glitter over a light and bright shade packs a fun summery punch. If you don’t have glitter nail polish, you can use eyeshadow; just apply a layer of top coat over it so it stays in place.

White’s a great nail polish colour for summer and can look particularly complementary with south Asian skin. Have some fun with it and jazz it up by painting blobs of other colours on top of the white. Use your creativity and pick any colours or textures (glitter, cracked, sequenced etc) you want.

It’s amazing what nail art can be achieved with just the basic art supplies you have at home. First paint one colour over your nails, then using tape to cover a portion of the nail, paint the uncovered part another colour. Keep going till you achieve the pattern you want. Cut the tape into whatever shape you fancy and use whichever colour and texture nail polishes you like - there’s a whole world of designs to explore!

Florals for summer? Definitely groundbreaking. Even more groundbreaking is using the head of a hair pin to dip into nail polish and create dots on your nails to form designs like these beautiful flowers.
